I've Been Away

First a weekend visit to Chicago, and then a week of dog sitting in Abingdon, Virginia.

Friday early I'll be off to Chicago again. This time I'm only there two days for a wedding. It's been fun, but all the driving and riding is tiring. I'll be posting more soon. I've been knocking things off the list and taking lots of pictures. Summer is starting!

Travel

I want to go so many places, but it's not easy. I want to plan in advance, but things change. I have no idea what I will be doing next summer. I really really want to study abroad, but I feel like that takes a lot of planning too. It will be worth it though. Planning stresses me out, but it shouldn't. I just worry too much unnecessarily. Anyways, I want to travel.

The top three places I want to go are:
-India
-The UK
-Japan

Where do you want to go? Where have you been?

It's Summer

My last final was today which means my first year of college is over. It is officially summertime.

"How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"
-Dr. Seuss

Confession: I just watched the final episode of the Lizzie McGuire show on YouTube. Yeah, I know, but I wanted to see the Lizzie/Gordo thing played out. Oh, teenage romances. Why do I love them so? I think could be happy writing little love stories for the rest of my life.

Seven Days

In seven days I will be done with my freshman year of college. I will packing up my overstuffed room and moving back home for the summer. It seems so weird that I will be leaving. I am ready for no classes, no work, and lots of time to spend with people or work on projects, but I will miss being here. It's funny.

Since it is almost summer, that also means it is almost finals. I am done with two of my projects (stained glass and cryptology), but I still have two exams to study for and a portfolio due tomorrow. Needless to say, I need to get working.

Today will be a writing day. That sounds like it would be nice, but it is for school, and a deadline, and a lot of editing, so I am slightly dreading it. Wish me luck.

Photos for Thoughts:

mom and dad brought me jars of jelly beans instead of a birthday cake. i managed to hold off for a bit and then ate them all. this is why i try to avoid having sweets in my room

Birthday Celebration

Beginning with Lord of the Rings and ending with an evening in, I had a very nice birthday. I loved all the gifts and birthday wishes.

My parents came to visit me and brought me some very nice things (including a subscription to Uppercase that I am very excited for).

Zac brought me flowers and some blue mondays.

The big surprise from him was several rolls of happy tape and a handmade tape roller.
Very sweet of him.

I am so excited to use all the fantastic things I got. Mom and Dad did a nice job of checking things off my wish list. They're great. It was so nice of them to come up.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend; I'll tell more about mine soon.

Old Books

decorative covers

yellowing pages

wear marks

and that old musty smell

I picked up several old books from the library for a school project. I love old books. At my grandmother's old house there a basement room that had a wall dedicated to books. I think (sadly) we got rid of most of them, but I remember going down there and looking through them. I wasn't always a big reader, but I always loved books. The covers were bright colors worn with age and they all had the musty old book smell. I hope when I'm old I have lots of books for my grandchildren to play with.
