To The Zoo

Zac and I went to the Zoo last Saturday

It was a little dreary out, but it didn't rain on us and the cool was nice for all the walking

This guy was afraid of me and pretended to be sleeping

We watched the giraffes being fed. They have some long tongues

I love how bright these birds are. They're funny too

My favorite is the polar bears. There were three. This one had been resting, one was swimming laps, and the other was pacing around. They did the same thing the entire time we watched.

I like going to the zoo and seeing all the different animals. I do feel bad for them, especially the ones kept in tiny box rooms behind glass. I thought they'd be given more room. I know a lot of people think zoos are wrong and bad, but I don't know. I think they should be given more room to roam, but I also think we are protecting species by having them in zoos. I think it is good that people are able to see the animals and learn about them, and maybe by going and paying for admission we are giving money to make the zoo better for the animals. I hope. Ideally they could live in big open habitats mirroring their own where they could still hunt and we could still view them, but I guess that isn't able yet.

I'm just trying to figure out what I think about it.

Yesterday a friend told me he always wanted to work at the zoo. I don't know if he was being serious or not, but wouldn't that be fun? In school I used to put down that I'd be a zookeeper to avoid thinking about what I actually was going to do. I'd love to work with the animals.

Crafty Super Market

I went to my first craft market today (unless you count the Winchester Daniel Boone Festival, which I am not), the Crafty Super Market, at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center in Cincinnati. I've seen several craft fairs posted about on various blogs, but they were never in cities close by. Today I came across a post about the Crafty Super Market on One Pearl Button and found out it was only 20 minutes away. At first I didn't want to go by myself, but I'm trying to be more independent and do more things I don't feel comfortable doing, so I printed google map directions and went for it. I passed the building three times, and I had to parallel park, but I made it. There were so many people and so many neat things. I'm glad I went. I didn't stay very long, but I did pick up some nice things.

My first buy was a flash pack from space dog studios. There were several different designs I liked, but then I saw this Gentleman one and knew I had to get it. I'm still deciding whether or not I want to keep it or fill it up and give it to a friend.

Next, I bought a card from Tracy Makanani. Zac and I both love cheese, and we talk about our love for cheese, so I thought this would be a nice card to give him sometime.

Lastly I bought a knitting is knotty sticker (which I plan on gifting since I am not much of a knitter) and two bottle cap magnets. I forget the name of the booth I purchased these from but the sticker says copyright of Sarah Utter, buyolympia.com.
